August Construction PMI – Order Books empty – Confidence High – Housing leading the charge…

Construction PMI data for August, issued today, suggests a degree of client uncertainty about what the Autumn is likely to bring, with order books on the thin side and a fall in output from the July high. Housing activity has continued its post-March bounce, however, and confidence is good with hopes being pinned on the expected raft of infrastructure projects and other robust public sector construction spending.
