Labour to pledge an end to centralisation with a £20bn boost to rengeneration of UK Cities

Having led this morning with a post bemoaning an apparent London-centric approach to harnessing and monetising the UK’s high end knowhow capability, Ed Miliband provides a (for once) welcome counterpoint.

Labour have announced a pledge to end the centralisation of economic control in the UK (not sounding very Labour to us?).

The great regional powerhouse cities like Manchester should be at theheart of the UK’s economy and Labour is to promise English cities more powers over transport, housing and employment to help close the “productivity gap” with London.

Reminding the political class that these fabulous regional cities exist woud be a good starting point….
