A very topical theme (on this blog and more widely) is the place of small business in public procurement and the responsibilities that both central and local government and other public bodies with money to spend have towards micro, small and medium-sized suppliers.
We live in a public procurement environment in which there is much talk about protecting the interests of MSME’s and about how spend towards MSME’s benefits local economies far more than spend on nationals and multi-nationals.
In May of this year, Lord Young published “Growing Your Business” as the second in a pair of reports, the first of which “Make Business Your Business” was published in May 2012.
Both reports are focussed on MSME’s with the first looking at startup and establishment.
Look out for a raft of new measures being rolled out by Government to give effect to Lord Young’s recommendations for opening up public procurement and supporting MSME’s set out in his second report.
