Social Value Act 2012 – It really is *gasp* a commercial thing….

And while we are talking about the Social Value Act (see earlier post today), here is a balancing argument from Supply Management – picking out some of the initiatives which are already underway to harness the opportunities that compliance with the Social Value Act 2012 will present.

In our previous post we highlighted the negative issue that in relation to any given grey area, compliance with the Public Contracts Regulations will always trump compliance with the Social Value Act.

Having said that, of course, where suppliers innovate to provide solutions for buyers which remove (or at least significantly mitigate) that risk of non-compliance it is likely to be so much easier for Authorities to engage with Social Value Act objectives.

There is no getting away, however, from our main argument – this is a bottom-up and not a top-down issue…
