Australia: Public Sector Sees IT Service Desk as “in-house” function

ITNewcom have produced this graphic comparing Public and Private Sector IT outsourcing intentions.

Whilst the Public Sector is actively outsourcing applications, it is much less likely to do so with its IT Service Desks. It may be that this function is regarded as so critical to immediate term service continuity and both staff and user satisfaction that it must be maintained in-house.

Those seeking to encourage the Public Sector to outsource service desk functions a going to have to do more to demonstrate a “safe in our hands” culture.
