EU environment policy – clear vision or curate’s egg?

On 11 June the EU’s 27 environment ministers set out the key elements of the EU’s environment policy demanding “an ambitious and compelling 2050 vision for a green Europe” that breaks the destructive link between economic growth from environmental degradation.

However, there will be disappointment amongst green lobbyists as the conclusions can also be interpreted as prevarication to the extent that they argue in favour of implementing existing environmental laws more effectively before passing new ones.
