EU looking for 18 month sprint through negotiations with USA on trade accord

EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht hopes to see a planned trade accord between the EU and the USA come to fruition by as early as mid-2014 despite the fact that the final scope of the deal is not expected to be reached until the end of this year – when the negotiations really start.

Ambitious given the nature of the obstacles which have traditionally faced this kind of negotiation in what amounts to a $4.4 trillion market. Bloomberg Business Week’s full article is below:
